APPLE iPAD 2 INDIA-NEXT WEEK

This comes as a surprise to all of us. Apple will launch the second generation iPad 2 in India at a price starting at Rs. 27,900 later this week. OnlyGizmos blog claims to have been tipped by a trusted source about this launch. It's surprising because hardly three months ago, Apple introduced the first generation iPad in India.

The second generation iPad 2 has a dual-core processor, dual-cameras, speaker mesh at the back, Gyroscopic sensor, accelerometer, and faster graphics. In a way, iPad 2 is a step up and refreshed version of iPad but nothing so phenomenally different. You can go through our iPad 2 preview.

Apple launched the iPad in India on January 28 and now the iPad 2 is expected to be launched on April 28. Within the span of 12 weeks, Apple slashed the price of iPad and now will introduce iPad 2 in India.

The price of Apple iPad currently in India is:

- iPad with Wi-Fi (16GB): Rs. 24,500
- iPad with Wi-Fi (32GB): Rs. 29,500
- iPad with Wi-Fi (64GB): Rs. 34,500
- iPad with Wi-Fi+3G (16GB): Rs. 31,900
- iPad with Wi-Fi+3G (32GB): Rs. 36,900
- iPad with Wi-Fi+3G (64GB): Rs. 41,900

Based on that, I assume that the price of different iPad 2 models might be:

- iPad with Wi-Fi (16GB): Rs. 27,900
- iPad with Wi-Fi (32GB): Rs. 32,900
- iPad with Wi-Fi (64GB): Rs. 37,900
- iPad with Wi-Fi+3G (16GB): Rs. 34,900
- iPad with Wi-Fi+3G (32GB): Rs. 39,900
- iPad with Wi-Fi+3G (64GB): Rs. 44,900

Well, these are the same prices at which the iPad was introduced and that's why I think would be applicable for iPad 2 as well. Don't count this as the final prices until we confirm.

iPhone 4 India

India’s Leading 3G Mobile service operator Bharti Airtel and AIRCEL today announced that will launch iPhone 4 in India in the coming months. Both operators did not give more details.

VODAFONE 3G DATA PLANS

According to the sms received just a few days back it seems that vodafone will be launching their vodafone 3g data plans soon.But guys dont think there will be any unlimited or cheap plans will be same as the other operators.Hope Vodafone comes out with cheap and unlimited plans.The plans will be posted as soon as they out.Please comment below on what do u think about the existing 3G data plans

The Free double upload speed will be valid up to 3 months form 1 April 2011.

Bing for iPad

Though Microsoft and Apple are looked upon as rivals, Microsoft continues to roll out products on Apple's iOS and Mac OS X platforms. Now, Microsoft has released new Bing App for iPad which is available for free from Apple iOS App Store. Bing for iPad is claimed to have been developed from ground up for the interface. Decision engine based Bing search becomes more visual and 'immersive' as an app for the iPad. The new Bing for iPad app is available only for U.S. region for download (link) from Apple iOS App Store. This Bing for iPad will work on iPads with iOS 4.2 update or higher.

Microsoft certainly has dropped some hints of what its Windows 8 for tablets might look like. The Bing for iPad's home screen shows up with six dynamic tiles - Weather, News, Maps, Movies, Trends and Finance. These tiles have dynamic content being showed up as like a slideshow. This means you will find changes in content on News and Trends tiles every few minutes.

Implementation of swipe gestures will surely be endured by iPad users as it will let them browser through movie news articles, trending topics, movie listings, images and many other items. The Bing app also integrates Bing Local and Maps that will help users with directions, real-time tracking of roads and traffic with Road, Aerial and "Bird's Eye" Views adjustable in Maps.

Bing for iPad app layout appears to be very engaging and pleasing as if you are reading a magazine. Well, it also has Voice activated search powered by Tell Me and as anticipated, it is not accurate, maybe due to the difference in accent.

One of the interesting implementations in this app is the layout where you can swipe between Bing results and websites that appear like frames. All you have to do is swipe from left to right or vice versa.

Needless to say that Bing for iPad does give some competition to different Google apps for the iPad like the Search and Maps in native Maps app. Now, Google should also compile all its goodies and deliver it in form of an actual app rather than existing one that acts as a bookmark anchor for its services.

BBM UPDATE SOON

RIM's BlackBerry users in India are making the best of the BlackBerry Messenger despite the tussle between the company and the Indian government. You will be delighted to know that RIM is working on BlackBerry Messenger 6.0 version (BBM) and it has already been made available in several underground forums. Folks at CrackBerry have got their hands on a couple of BBM 6.0 screen shots that show that the updated Messenger looks really clean and slick.

BlackBerry Messenger 6.0 is expected to be available with the BlackBerry OS 6.1 update when RIM releases it. The new BBM 6.0 will have new icons and users will be able to assign colors to contacts as well as chat. So that means you can assign specific colors to specific contacts.

HTC DESIRE S INDIA

HTC has launched the Desire S Android smartphone in India. It is the updated version of the original HTC Desire, which is still on sale for Rs. 21,999. The Desire S, on the other hand, is priced at Rs. 25,490. Compared to the Desire, the Desire S has an updated version of the Snapdragon SoC with a faster GPU, more RAM and Android 2.3 Gingerbread. HTC has done away with the optical trackpad on the Desire S but it has a front video call camera.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 & 10.1 INDIA

According to a tweet by the Samsung Mobile India account, Samsung are also planning to release the 8.9-inch and 10.1-inch variants of the Galaxy Tab in India this month. This could be one of those extra rare cases where India is one of the first markets where a product releases. The Galaxy Tab 10.1 was announced back at MWC 2011, and the Galaxy Tab 8.9 more recently at CTIA.
